This is an English version of the interview published in HeavyRiff No.26 – January/2015. You can check out the spanish version by clicking right here.
Let's go back to the past, back in 2004. Why did you create a band?
Dillon, bass player: To make some music.
Is there any difference between the very first band and the actual DISSORTED?
D- In the beginning of DISSORTED, the band was more of a Rock-Band. The music was completely different to what it is now. The only founding member left is Florian, our guitarist.
What does DISSORTED mean? Why you choose it as your band name?
D- It's an alteration of the word “distorted”. Our former drummer came up with the name and we kept it.
I checked out your website. Most of your influences are American bands. You don´t mention any German band, why?
D- I think it's because of the flair of the Bay area. The German bands are great as well, we also have some influences from, for example Kreator, too. The important influences though are the American bands like Testament, Exodus, Megadeth and Iced Earth.
Why did you take ten years to release an EP? What happened between 2004 and 2014?
D- As I already mentioned, the band was completely different to what it is now. We started playing thrash metal in 2009. Since then we had so many line-up changes, so that it took some time to settle. Now with a stable line-up we wanted to show the world our music.
As far as I know, you've had line up problems, is that right? How hard is find band members on the German underground scene?
D- There are so many great bands in our region and therefore it is hard to find people that fit perfectly. It's not only the instrumental skills – more important are interpersonal relations. It definitely takes long to get the right person for your group.
The songs from your EP belong to the early days of the band or you composed them recently?
D- Bloodshed divine is from our actual line-up. We composed it within the last year. The other songs on our EP are about 2-4 years old from our older line-ups. We chose those songs because all of them represent us the best.
About the name of the EP. Why is it only: I?
D- It's our first record and since we didn't want to have a theme for all of the songs we wanted to keep it simple. Therefore we chose the name “one” - “I”
Have you composed something else than the five songs that are included in your EP?
D- Yeah, we have a lot more songs. We have a repertoire of about 9 songs that we play frequently on our gigs.
When will we ever see your debut full lenght album?
D- There are no plans yet. But we're currently writing a lot new songs and hope to go to the studio soon again!
What are the DISSORTED plans for this upcoming 2015?
D- We want to play some gigs more often, especially all over Germany and some gigs in foreign countries. There are plans to go to France, Italy, and Austria for example.
Do you have any final comment for all the readers?
D- Check out our website, Facebook, Youtube etc. Listen to our songs and follow us. You can also order our EP on http://dissorted.bigcartel.com
